The Moen 1222 is a common Posi-Temp pressure-balancing shower cartridge for single-handle Moen tub and shower faucets, designed to maintain consistent water temperature by balancing hot and cold pressure, though newer versions (post-2022) offer enhanced shock protection but may restrict pure cold water flow. It’s a durable brass/plastic part, essential for leak prevention and smooth operation, and is replaced without changing the whole fixture, but is not interchangeable with the Moen 1225 cartridge.
